The objectives of the Diploma in Facility and Environmental Services programme are to lay a strong foundation for learners entering the facility and environmental Services Industry. The internship component will provide learners the feel of actual working conditions on the ground that will also enhance their employment opportunities when they join the industry.
Objectives
The aims of this syllabus are to build learner’s skillset with the technologies required to supervise building operations and services such as landscaping, waste and hygiene services and workplace safety systems.
Learn to supervise junior employees, correct usage of cleaning chemicals, manage customers, correct methodologies to maintain cleanliness of property and waste disposal which includes separation of recyclables and gain insight to new technologies created for this industry e.g., cleaning robots. You will also learn the various types of risks supervision, fire hazards and fire safety measures for facilities and environmental services.
1) 17.5 years of age and above
2) Obtained at least a pass (defined as C6 and above) at GCE O Level English or Pass in placement test or equivalent
3) Obtained at least a pass (defined as C6 and above) at GCE O Level in any three subjects or equivalent

Full-time, 6 months (theory) + 6 months (internship), Monday – Friday, 3 hours per day
** At the end of the 6 months theoretical lessons, learners will beplaced on industrial Attachment. For learners that are not eligible for industrial Attachment due to whatever reason, learners will be placed on a project work.

When I first came to Birmingham Academy, I do not have a great impression as the academy wasn’t very big. I was thinking of transferring school but decided to try for a week. It was amazing.
