Students who require assistance in sourcing accommodation in Singapore may approach Birmingham Academy
for guidance. We help recommend or introduce accommodation options based on individual preferences and
availability.

Accommodation Options Include:

  • Homestays / Hostels
  • Rental of HDB flat or room
  • Rental of private flat or room

Estimated Cost:

Monthly rental rates typically range from SGD 500 to SGD 1,500, depending on location, type of accommodation,
and facilities. Students should also plan for additional expenses such as food, transportation,
entertainment, and other personal costs.

Cost of Living

When budgeting, it’s important to account for expenses such as accommodation, food, transportation, clothing, telecommunications, books and stationery, medical insurance, and other personal costs. On average, an international student in Singapore spends between S$750 and S$2,000 per month on living expenses.

Healthcare Support

If you’re feeling unwell and need medical attention, students can:

  • Visit a nearby private clinic.

  • For emergencies, go to the Accident & Emergency (A&E) department of any hospital.

  • If you require an ambulance, dial 995 for urgent assistance from the Singapore Civil Defence Force. For non-urgent ambulance services, dial 1777.

Additionally, Birmingham Academy provides students with Group Hospitalization & Surgical Insurance, fully compliant with the EduTrust guidelines set by the SSG. This insurance covers hospitalization and surgery costs up to S$20,000 annually per student, which is typically sufficient for most cases.
