(SWDA)
Skills & Workforce Development Agency (SWDA) is a statutory board under the Ministry of Manpower and jointly overseen with the Ministry of Education. Formed through the merger of SkillsFuture Singapore (SSG) and Workforce Singapore (WSG), SWDA drives lifelong learning, skills development, and workforce transformation in Singapore.
SWDA plays a key role in regulating and supporting Private Education Institutions (PEIs), ensuring that students receive quality education aligned with industry and national standards.

Fee Protection Scheme (FPS)
The Fee Protection Scheme (FPS) safeguards students’ course fees in the event that a private education institution is unable to continue operations due to insolvency or regulatory closure. It also protects students if the institution fails to refund fees or pay penalties arising from court judgments in Singapore.
FPS was introduced under the EduTrust framework, replacing the former Student Protection Scheme (SPS). All EduTrust-certified Private Education Institutions are required to implement FPS to ensure full protection of fees paid by students.
FPS covers all fees paid towards enrolment, excluding course application fees, agent commissions (if applicable), non-compulsory or non-standard fees, and GST.

Insurance Scheme at Birmingham Academy
Birmingham Academy provides FPS Insurance Scheme – Group to all enrolled students to protect their course fees in full compliance with SWDA and EduTrust requirements.
The school purchases FPS insurance within 7 working days from the receipt of course fees. Insurance coverage begins from the date the course fees are received and remains valid until the due date of the next payment or the course end date, whichever is earlier.
Birmingham Academy has appointed LONPAC Insurance Bhd, an SWDA-approved FPS insurance provider, to administer this coverage.
