Crime Prevention Advisory: Noticeable Trends of Foreign Students
There’s a noticeable trend of foreign students holding student pass found engaging in illegal employment in Singapore and rough sleeping.
Engaging In Illegal Employment in Singapore
Birmingham Academy hereby remind our students that STP holders are not allowed to work in Singapore without a valid work pass. Those found flouting the MOM’s and ICA’s rules will be charged under regulation 40(2) of the Immigration Regulations. Do refer to the Terms & Conditions of Student’s Pass (STP) appended.
Rough Sleeping
Under the Terms & Conditions of Student’s Pass (STP), Para 6. “Under regulation 8(5)(b), you shall notify ICA if there is any change in your place of residence within 14 days of the change. You shall report a change of address online through your school or local sponsor via e-Update of Address.”, it is an offence if you have move out of your place of residence and did not inform the school. Birmingham Academy will not hesitate to suspend or expel students from their course should this happen. As such, do ensure that you have a new place of residence and report to the school within 14 days. Should you need to move out before getting a new residence, do not rough sleep.
